Help - 6 Banger - Help
Question for all you mech experts and all. The 250 in my 82 C10 ditched a rod. The top end is all good. Is it possible to take the top end (integrated head assembly) off the 82 and put it on my 70's 250 block. I want to keep a six in the 82 and I need the upper end because of all the accessories the 82 has and the 70 doesn't. My 70's engine is solid, but the AC, pwr steering and all from the newer truck won't mount up.
Thanks for any help.

Yes, the integral heads and non intergral heads interchange with each other.

That is good to know. I thought so, but you just never know what seems obvious isn't. I guess now I'll have to find another engine for the 70. OH darn, I guess I'll just HAVE to use a V8 now .
Thanks TX Firefighter.

I didn't Krue. The owner did. I know she wasn't hot rodding it (this time) because she was with her mom. The bearing let go as she was getting on I10.

As mentioned, the blocks should swap but there may be a problem mounting the compressor. The 82 block probably has an area next to the timing chain cover that one of the A/C support brackets bolts to. If the block in your 70 truck is original, it won't have the mounting holes next to the timing chain cover. Originally, the compressor was mounted to the side of the cylinder head on a 70 truck 250.

Beware: Those integrated heads are notorious for cracking. Have it magnafluxed before you install it, just for GP
