Some guys!!!!! Venting!!!!

Wow I was buying this truck from this guy (supposed to be a friend even) anyway I looked at his truck, we negotiated a price and he was keeeping his radio. Anyway I met him today to get it and he took off the new tires that was on it, he tried to tell me they weren't in on the deal but he never said that before. I told him I didn't want it if the tires wasn't on there and walked away. Then he told me he would bring me the tires this week if I would still buy it, I told him OK and bought it, but I LOST alot of respect for him after what he did. I couldn't live with myself if I'd do that to someone. Another buddy was with me when we negotiated and he couldn't believe he tried what he did, me either. Sorry just venting!

Do you think he will give up the tires? Some deals like that just don't work out and trying to get the rest of the stuff is like pulling teeth. Good Luck.

Fair chance your not gonna get those tires now. If you paid him already.
I had that happen awhile back. Not a buddy though. Guy i offered to sell parts to. (for a Honda). Calls me later tells me that he wrecked it and wants to sell. I said, How bad did yo wreck it? Tells me it needs a new fender and hood. Ok, sounds good. I had to pick him up at his girlfriends to go see it.
Man, he took the wheels off. I mean, NO wheels. Stereo, battery. And the car was DESTROYED. I mean a total loss. He hit a parked dumpster. I said, Where are the wheels? Oh i sold them. I said, you didnt tell me that on the phone when i asked. Then when i asked about the stereo he said, oh yea i kept that.
Price before, $150. Price after i ripped his butt about being full of crap. $30 And he took it. And i made him give up the factory stereo too.

I lost out on a deal about a year ago.. I drove out to Henderson TN to look at a 72 Cheyenne short 4X4. Had a decent body and brand new 350 crate. I told him I'll take it, and when I go to get it, the tach dash, tilt wheel, American racing aluminum rims and new tires were missing. I asked where everything was, and I'm told that wasn't in the agreed upon price. I decided to walk away, even after the guy pleaded with me to take the truck at a lower price. Some people just don't have any ethics

He plays golf at our golf course right now for free, he does some painting for us and gets to golf for free, if the tires don't show up in a week, that will change I'll make time to do the painting and he'll have to pay to play. I'll also make sure everyone that knows him realizes what kind of guy he is. The more I think about it the more pissed I get.

What We Have Hea.....

... is a failure to communicate. I'm guilty of it too. I have been bitten countless times making assumptions. What I have learned is that its easier to say what you're thinking, right up front, than to try to take up the slack and "fix" a deal after the "misunderstanding" takes place. I ASK all the questions now. "SO, at this agreed price, this truck comes with every single thing on it as it sits NOW. Is that our agreement?" Then give HALF the coin with a firm handshake, the other half when you pick it up and its exactly as you had agreed.
The other thing to check is the old "Box C on the title trick". IN Arizona, actual mileage autos have the A box checked. If the odo has been screwed with, or the cars been wrecked, etc. the C box is checked and the value is significanlty less. I learned this one the hard way and when I confronted the seller (after I went to the DMV and learned of my screwup) the seller said: (you guessed it) Why, I had no IDEA that the title had the C box checked! My aching hinder. ASK to SEE the title.
So, ASK the questions UP FRONT. Its a lot less hassle than fighting about it later. FWIW, signed, "Experienced". H.

He does some painting at your golf course? And then golfs for free? I am not a golfer, but know that he is probably getting the better end of the deal. But then he trys to "bone" you on a deal? Negatory. I would not wait for the tires. I would call him up a tell him to bring them right over. NO reason you should have to wait. Then i would terminate the paint for play deal. Screw him.

I will keep this in mind for the future, but I didn't realize you had to be specific about what was included in the asking price of a vehicle. Bet I don't assume that again.

The key word here is "Integrity" and this other guy doesn't have it. Randy, I am sorry to hear that you are having this trouble and I hope that it works out favorably for you.

deals made

This is why I almost take everything off I want to keep before I sell something so there isn't a mix up. Or I exclusively say or have written in the deal. There's been a time or two I forgot to mention something wasnt' going with it and I just let the person have it rather than have people pissed at me. On the same scenario some guys I just have that feeling if I'm buying something I get it out of there right then and there so they don't strip it or act stupid when I ask where something is at that's missing.

Hunter, I understand what your saying about failure to communicate BUT I assure you this was not that. All that was said was about the radio. He just tried to shaft me! This is not my first truck purchase I've probably bought close to 200 trucks in my lifetime.
fine69, its coming up in front of the boss tomorrow.
War, most guys are great, this is the first one I've ever ran into
Jeff, Thanks your exactly right!!! Also tell your neighbor I have a air cleaner he was asking about.
Thanks Randy

Hey Ron, come on up, I should be working till 2:00.
Update: He's losing his free golf privlages, but he don't know it yet, I had a talk with the owner of teh golf course about him, he understands where I'm coming from. Also talked to the guy I bought the truck from about the tires, he said he's working on it, I heard he sold them already, this may be a big mess before were done.
