Modifications for Snow Plow?
I originally posted under "suspension" but it may be more appropriate here.
Could anyone tell me what parts I would need to change in order to add a snow plow to my 92 extended-cab 4X4. It has the standard suspension and did not come with the snow plow package. We just purchased a large property and I will need to clear a long driveway. Any and all comments greatly appreciated !

First not many trucks come with a snowplow package what i did on my 2500hd is i turned up my torsion bars to take the weight of the plow and went straight to get a alignment due to the ride height change. do you have a 1/2 ton a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton? if its a half ton i feel bad for u to be plowing with it.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it's a 1500 series and that's why I asked the question. The 1/2 ton suspension is too weak for a plow and I would like to know what needs changing to handle the plow adequately...if at all. |

I finally had time to go to my local Chev dealer and ask the service manager this same question. Although not "recommended" for a 1/2 ton, he knows of many others that have installed a plow with no ill effects. He did suggest that I try to find a "plastic" plow instead of metal. The only thing that would be required is the re-adjustment of the torsion bars as 89 3/4Ton 4x4 said.
