I think that sound just about right, my tires are about 25" tall and I'm lowered about 5.5".

the rear of my truck has a 26 inch tall tire, with out any drop the lip of the fender is 6.5 inches, should look just about right. the rear is stock height.

A friend has a 255/45 17 (Same as 275/40 17) on his 78 C10, and he has 6" of drop, looks perfect. On a 5" though, I would run 27", hell..I'm gonna run 27.75"! lol
