How to find lower ball joints??????????
Okay i purchased some new lower ball joints for my 69 from OReileys and the fell right through the hole i pressed the old ones out of. So i returned them and they couldnt help me find out why they didnt fit. Then i went to autozone and they gave me ball joints that bolt on (similar to upper ball joints) They didnt know why they looked like that. So where am i supposed to find lower ball joints that will fit into the hole that i pressed the oem joints out of? Are these aftermarket joints supposed to go on a different way. Thanks for any help

1st you need to shop at Advance Auto Parts they sell TRW chassi parts and they fit like OE parts!!

I bought my lower and upper ball joints @ autozone. I have a 70 GMC. The part numbers on their website are the ones that I bought. Do the shopping/lookup on the website and you'll find the right ones. I think the parts were FA480, FA481.

Could someone have swapped in a 73-87 front suspension into your truck at one time?? 73-up uses larger balljoints.

I had the same problem. The uppers I bought also fit real loose. Turns out I have 3/4 ton suspension on my 1/2 ton suburban. It's the stock suspension too.
 Anyway, I exchanged the parts for 3/4 ton parts and all is well.

incoma is right about the part number for a 69 1/2 ton do you have disc brakes or brums. If you have disc try using the 72

That's what I was thinking. When I bought new ones for mine they asked if I wanted standard or oversize. They said the oversize is for control arms that have a worn out hole.
It's worth asking about, but first check to see what arms you have. Good luck, Rg
