the winch was $350.00. A 9000lb milemarker. Just not looking foward to cutting the new chrome bumper. I will hide the hole with the licence plate. And it will hinge up. I used the same set-up on my rear receiver hitch. The hinged plate bracket came off a mid 80 camero

Trick set up. That's a good idea with the winch.

So you are mounting the fairlead in the bumper or not using one?

I'm not sure if I'm going to use a fairlead as of yet. The problem with using a fairlead it would put extra strain on the bumper if the cable has a load on it. And depending on how much cable is on the reel, the position of the cable exiting the bumper/fairlead will change. I thought about making the hole almost as large as the licence plate, and incorperating the licence plate flip bracket. I have a old bumper to test it out on. Any Ideas are welcome???????????????

Looks like you have used yours alot. A nice installation. I think your winch is more foward than mine. I'm gonna try and get the old bumper cut tomarrow and see how it looks. Are you a AC/Heating tech like me?

Nope,I'm an RN.
Just like working on my truck and doing as much work on my own that I can. So far the only thing I've never taken apart is a transmission.

Look's pretty killer how about useing a hawse fairlead????? They are low profile and the l-plate would only stick out about 1 inch or so at the most..

I am guessing that without a fairlead of some type, you may risk a cut cable. If you are severe enough to stess the bumper that much, the angle must be severe enough to meet the bumper.
Any chance of incorporating a reciever type mount in there. Use the Fairlead when you need it and remove it for daily driving.
