billit grille

Those grille's they sell in LMC and such. If you install them can you still open the hood with the outside latch? I have heard you can not. Is that with all three styles?

Wondering how to do my grille to make it stand out a little.

yeah i've wondered that too. I wanted the billet alluminum but no way to open my hood. But i really dig the round tubed chrome grill, it may not be possible with your hands on the chrome grills, but you could use like a metal bar or wedge, at least thats what ima do.

You could alway retro fit a newer style latch that opens from the cab.

You can barely get your fingers between the grills, but I have a medium size hand. I installed a inside hood release, but that is not a slam dunk. You have to find all the components like the center brace, the latch mechanism, and the hood latch from a 78-80 truck that had that option. The cable and pull handle was the easy part.

yeah 78silverado, thats kinda what i always figured; adding inside hood release would be a gigantic turd. I think using a metal wedge, like a sheet of stainless steel curled, would work fine, as long as it is heavy enough gauge steel as to not bed before latch pops.

I have a billet grille on my 77 and though it is a little tight, the out side latch works fine for me.

I made a handle for the hood release on my 73. I used a hood prop rod with a hinge on the bottom, and cut the hook off of the top. Then I bolted teh hinge part to the hood release, and welded a handle on it behind the bumper. Problem solved.
