ignition switch removal help (cant search)
i know this has been brought up before but how do u get the ignition switch out of a 71?

there is a little hole on the front of the switch, put the key in and turn it to the right to the acc. position. next push something small and hard into the hole you will fell it depress then turn the switch counterclock-wise until it stops, you may have to do this several times until it is freely moving. Then using the key remove the switch through the front of bezel.

put in the pin then turn or the other way around? After that the bezel should just screw out?

Just did this today...
The first post is correct. Insert key, turn to accessory position Insert paper clip or similar into hole, you'll feel it depress. (as mentioned) Turn key (lock assembly) counter clockwise and it should come out. Then, yes the bezel just unscrews. Keep trying, it almost never seems to work the first time... |

Nope it will almost NEVER work the first time!! I did it atleast 15+ times before it worked I was ready to take a power hammer to it, just keep at it though.

I use liquid graphite before trying.
It flows throught the lock and lubes everything, usually making it easier to get out. Don't get the graphite on your cloths, it will stain them.

They actually make a special tool to safely remove the bezel portion.
