My 68' bench seat will fold forward. I recently bought a 67 that has a bench seat from a 72. The seat won't fold forward! I thought they all folded.
Is there anyway to convert it to a folding bench? I'd really lke to keep this seat. Is it as simple as swapping brackets?

Aren't there a pair of bolts on each side of the seat (roughly where it pivots)? Can't you remove the back one and let it pivot on the front bolt only? Just a thought. Might not even work, but....

I don't know. It's worth checking. I'll have to compare my seats and see if it can be done. There isn't much storage behind the seat but it would be nice to be able to fold it forward.

That's what some guys did in hi school. It does work, but you need a 2x4 on top of the gas tank to keep the seat from hitting the tank. It is also not very safe without the seat back locked in position.

I took the back off a folding bench seat(bottom springs were shot). Took a grinder and removed the stops from the bad lower section and welded them onto the newer, full foam bottom. Then painted them. Then bolted them together. Works good. Now to take the seat and get recovered.

On a stock seat, you can remove the bolt and let it lean back, but if you are short (or anyone who may drive it) then it'll lean back like a recliner. When I did mine, the top of the seat rested on the cab's back wall, never touched the gas tank.
The other bad thing on doing this, the no folding deat is a bit too wide, and it'll rub the arm rest on the doors if they are not both open, and also, there is fabric that covers the hardware and hinge, and it'll tear and look all gheto if you do this without addressing that. I just ripped mine and said screw it, but later I realized how crappy it looked and I was kickin myself for doing it.
