instrument cluster upgrade

my latest experiment with dash upgrades. i like to see numbers on my gauges so i can see what is going on. i dont like the looks of add on panels so i upgraded with late model chevy truck gauges and a camaro tach. tried 2 different panels.

Very nice work. It's classy and looks great. I know what you mean about seeing the numbers.

Very cool, its new enough that you can see them but they aren't so radically different that they look out of place. Sweet set up.

Tach looks like one from a Camaro, the oil pressure, temp and battery gauge are from a late 73-87 truck. The early 73-87s didn't have any numbers on them.

Clock came out of an '81 Toy Celica. I just wish I remember what year I took the tach from. I know it's not after 84 'cause I have seen them in the yards and not even close.
Oh well, I'll keep looking.

I took a tach very like that last one out of a mid- to late-70's MonteCarlo. Got a huge "economy" (vacuum) gauge out of another same-year MC.

was going to show backside on original post but picture was too large. ill try another one. the white wire is connected to the tach terminal on hei. 1 wire ran from oil pressure gauge to sending unit. used printed circuit power for voltmeter and gauge is grounded to panel. had to fabricate panels for gauges because they are located higher than stock. thought the stock panels with old holes showing looked tacky. you can also change the color of backlighting by painting the inside reflector different color. i use flouresent paint. looks sharp in the dark. tried to take a picture showing lites but camera wont work in low light.
