Lowering a 2wd Blazer
Are there any issues with putting a flip kit and spindles on a 2wd Blazer? It looks like the frames are a little different in the rear between a p/u and Blazer. I have the spindles and flip on my swb stepper and was wondering about transferring the parts to a Blazer.

I cannot verify that there is a difference but when i installed the flip on my 75 Jimmy I know the frame actually sat down on the rear end compressing the bump stops. I just assumed the Jimmy/Blazer tubs extra weight and possibly weak leafs were the culprit but maybe the frame is made differently. I know this does not help huh? lol

Looking at my truck, it looks like the top of the rear would be getting pretty close to the floorpan with a C-notch.

Blazer frames are different than a pickup. And there is closer space between the frame/axle than a pickup also.

I have a 1980 (84 front clip) 2WD dropped with DJM 3" spindles and 2.5 coils. In back I have a DJM 5" flip kit and a 4" C notch I made. Four Belltech drop shocks.I put new short bump stops in that came with the flip kit. I have no problems bottoming out. I have new springs that have to go in yet so that should help more. The old ones are weak. You can see my ride on 73+ site LOBLAZER PICS, Aug 03/04 or on the Sept. TOTMonth.

Loblazer if I had went ahead and done the c notch when I did my flip I am sure mine would have probably rode a little better. Oh well that will be taken care of soon maybe.

Watch for drive shaft/crossmember issues,... and the centersection of the rearend hitting the floor.

Yes I took out 2 sets of rear u-joints until i got the angle right. What issues with crossmembers? My diff hasn't hit the floor yet. I am cautious of where I drive it.

I guess crossmember is the wrong word. Body bracing maybe? Seems like there is a brace under the floor (above the driveshaft) about half way to the rearend, that might need a notch. I know when I sold my '82 2wd,... ( I had the back loaded to the roof with spare seats and parts),... the guy called me when he got home and said there was a high pitched squealing sound when it hit bumps. He seemed to think the driveshaft was hitting something when the rear suspension compressed. Can anyone else confirm this? Pics? Also I thought the top of the rearend was close to the floor with a flip kit and a notch, that would let the suspension travel.
