progress...

Finally got off my lazy azz and made a little progress on the 77.
I'm running GC 3/8 valves, Slam Specialties bags and homemade 4 link.
I know I've been telling you guys I would take a full view truck picture but I just hate seeing it on jack stands.
I should have it sitting on the ground by the end of this week. (I hope)
I'll roll it out then and take some better pictures.

The welding was the easy part. It was the fabrication of the 4 link and the brackets that was a little time consuming.
You kinda get tired of grinding brackets after awhile, but hey it is still better than being at work!

Frank, very clean install. Did you make both the upper & lower bars?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Frank that is a killer setup. I can't wait to see it all together. Light a fire under your butt and bring it up for Goodguys so we can drool on it....

“Primered”
The diagonal link is similar to the rear end locating method used by Art Morrison and Chris Alston on some of their chassis’s. The mounting points of the diagonal link on this particular set up (on the bars) was done so that the extreme drop and lift of the air suspension wouldn’t cause the side pull you get with a regular panhard bar. These diagonal links are typically mounted on the bottom bars but because of clearance issues we chose to run ours up top. You still get some slight deflection of the rear on hard cornering because of bushing flex, but it is minimal.

We made the bottom bars but the top bars were a deferent story. We couldn’t find the correct size DOM tubing locally so we ordered the tops from Jason at Suicide Doors. It’s hard to beat his prices, even if you make the parts yourself. To give you an example, a one inch urethane rod end was going to be $45 alone, then add the DOM that had to be purchased in a full stick. (I can’t even remember what that was going to cost.) Now figure in the time to cut and weld etc.
Jason’s bars came with 1.125 urethane bushed ends, 1.250 DOM and made to my specs.
$50 a piece!!!!!
I am now a big fan of Suicide doors!
We are also running Suicide Doors front bag brackets. Again very nice quality for the money.

Goodguys! Good God!
That may be a little too soon. Hehe.
The butt fire has been lit though.
I have a goal! GOODGUYS!!!!
Air system and brake lines by the end of this week.
Exhaust the following week.
Then it’s time to raise the bed floor. (no hole) FUN FUN.
It seems like the list of things to do is just getting longer and longer.

Have you got any more pics of the lower bars where they attach @ the rear housing? I considered using bars similar to a GM A/G body/4 link. My guess is they are quite similar in construction & mounting.

Here are a few shots of the bottom bars.
It's a fairly simple bracket. We made it with 2 mounting points so we could play with shock lengths.
Man I hate the way those old yellow things look.
Oh well they hold the rear end up.
