Question Longhorn;toolbox;sidebox door stuff

Hey all, I'm trying to bring back a serious cancer victim. It's my '72 Longhorn. If it was a horse........well.... The toolbox on the side is in hmmm BAD shape. There is NO METAL left below the door itself. I am trying to find any kind of repair piece, or if somebody has a damaged longbed with toolbox that they can part with. I intend to cut it at the body crease if I can find a nice panel... I know, good luck. I would also be interested in a nice door . Or maybe a labotomy.... I know I can fab the pieces if necessary..... if I have a couple of months free time. The good news is....the fiberglass box is solid. Go figure. I also am curious if anyone has some good under bed "hat" channels. Mine are "see through". Has anyone made their own wood pieces for their truck? I think I can use a shaper to make the grooves.

That would work. Don't know if it's worth that much though. Thanks.

What I really need more than anything is the opening for the door. Mine is COMPLETELY gone. In fact the box was holding the door in place. No metal below the hinges.

Check out the post "Longhorn Toolbox" by Bob Moore, he found a toolbox in good shape at a yard and wants to know if anybody is interested in it. Might be what your looking for. Try to link it for you http://64.246.42.114/vboard/showthread.php3?t=118850

Don't throw your old door away no matter how rusty it is. I've seen a couple of good doors that for some reason, were missing the latch hardware and the hardware can sometimes be hard to locate.

I believe I can "re-skin" the door and save the latch area. Thanks.

Sometimes you can find a better one to replace yours...maybe easier than repairs. This is an example of one I found here. That is the original wood with the paint still on it. The door and sheet metal was flawless. I offered it for sale on here and Castiron9 bought it.

Dang! Looks like the cancer free sister to my truck.... I hope to find something. I'm not afraid of welding though.
