Question 4 speed Manuel Transmission

I stoped on my way home from work to check out a possible parts truck. The seller stated that the truck, a 69 LWB, came from the factory with a 350 and a 4 speed manuel transmission. Forgive my ignorance but is that even a combination that was offered in 69? He too stated that this transmission iss a difficullt to find item, not that i have any use for it, but was curious if he is full of it!

Thanks to all for all invaluable information that have recevied and Im sure will continue too! :

He is full of crap. That is an SM465 truck transmission, with granny low 1st. Came in every kind of GM truck available from 1968 until at least 1991. They are less common than automatic trannies, but if anything would be worth less because most people prefer autos.

Those 4 speeds are very pretty common and not very desirable. Picked up a spare for my 71 GMC for $35 at a swap meet recently

I'd say the CH465 is a pretty stout tranny though for heavy hauling. I really like mine.

The only thing remotely possible is a np435 trans, instead of a sm465

I've got the same tranny and it's on my "things to upgrade" list. First gear is ok if your into pulling stumps or mobile homes (lol) and my top speed is 55 mph, however I should add I've got a 410 rear end. Doug

I'd be happy to take that off your hands if you get the truck, but I'm sure shipping would be more than the thing is worth.
