AC Quit need help
My truck is a 95 and the AC quit. Fan still comes on, but no hot to the low pressure switch or the compressor. Checked all fuses, removed the dash and checked for hot to the switch. Push button switch is working corectly, has hot with key on. Fan switch has hot to it also and it has hots to all the fan speeds. I am not sure if this has a fusable link or some other type of fuse somewhere. Anyone know what could be the problem. Is there somewhere else I should be looking. Help me out here as I live in Arizona and its still 100+ out there. PLEASE!!!!!!

The AC quit on my Dads 99 Denali a while back, it has rear air so there are lines running to the back. One the lines had some corrision on it and made a pin hole leak and all the refrigderant leaked out. He tried everything to troubleshoot it and finally took it to an AC place, I believe there is a safety mechanism that prevents the compressor running dry when there is no pressure in the system.

You are exacty right, the pressure switch on the reciever dryer is what does that. However I dont have power to this plug, which transfers the power to the compressor clutch. I keep thinking it is the dash switch but I don't like just replacing parts untill I know positive that is the problem Thanks for your input. Chuck

This place is the best source of information regarding automotive A/C that I've come across. http://www.ackits.com/forum/categori...d=3&zb=5031417 I'd like to help you out but my experience is with the old systems and I'm not sure what GM runs on the newer stuff. Typically the systems have a low pressure cutout switch and a hi pressure safety so to speak. The low pressure switch is what cycles the compressor. If a hi pressure condition is encountered the compressor will shut down to prevent damage. It does sound to me like a control problem and the folks at the link should be able to help.

the switch on the receiver dryer take the plug off and take a short piece of wire and stick the wire into each end og the plug to make a loop then turn your ac on if ac comp comes on then the switch is bad and needs replaced and it will cost you bout 15 to 20 bucks and also might need a can of r134a to replenish the system which runs bout 15 bucks for 12 oz can which includes the hose to hook to the receiver dryer inlet hope this helps Doc
