tach dash.
I have a friend who says he has a tach dash that he will sell me for my truck. I have seen a bit about them here, but it has been a while.
I was wondering, he says it came out of a truck with a V8, my truck has an I6, will it work just by installing it or will I have to find a tach that was originally for a 6 cyl? Any help would be appreciated.

My understanding is that you need one for the I6. V8's will read wrong.

6 cyl tach
I have a whole cluster out of a 6cyl truck. In good shape and tach does work. I have had this for 15 years. $150 + shipping. It is out of a 69 with a 292 6cyl. It does have guages too. Please no fighting over this thank you Erick.

How much for the 8 cyl tach dash. I am interested in it if you don't use it.

I am interested in the I6 tach. I have a dash with tach for a V8, would you be interested in a trade? If not maybe can work something out.

Anybody know how I can verify that this tach is for a V8?

I have used a 6 cyl tach on a V-8. On the back of the tach there is a piece of tape that covers the calibration screw. I used a Snap-On tach as a reference and then calibrated the 6 cyl tach to read the rpms with both tachs hooked up to an engine. Linearity was good and the tach reads at where it should.
I would think that you could go the opposite way, (calibrate an 8 cylinder tach for a 6 cylinder). If you look at the back of the tach there should be a rubber stamped "8CYL" in blue ink. Jim |
