Stock Valve Covers for a 327
What was the stock Valve cover for a 327? Was it the scripted chevrolet or the covers with 1 hole on each side?
Looking to get a pair if I can find the correct ones. Thanks |

They had Chevrolet stamped on both sides and didn't have any holes in 'em. These are hard to find and if they are most people want a lot of money for 'em.

If they were the scripted ones with no holes, how was the pvc setup on it?
Thanks |

Thanks for the pic. How are you running your pcv setup? Are you going through the oil filler tube? |

Skokie, first you need to see if your block is set up for a road draft tube in the back or not. Those solid scripted valve covers without any holes are used on early engines with road draft tubes.
68 was the last year for the 327 and I'm pretty sure you should have a PCV valve on your engine rather than road draft tube system.

Your correct, for whatever reason, I didn't re-read my post before submitting it.
I still stand by saying that that late of model engine should have a PCV system rather than road draft tube. Myself, I would never cut script valve covers for a PCV, I'd get the right ones. I revere those script valve covers.

Yes, my 69 327 did have the newer style valve covers with the PCV in the valve cover. Once I finish cleaning and repainting these script valve covers, they can be had for $50

Here are the valve covers on my 68 327 Large journal. No script and one hole. No oil filler. I think one is for the PVC. The other one I can't remember what it's for. I'll have to check. My truck is a manual. It's possible that autos had slightly different covers due to a different smog set up.

There's a picture of mine before I cleaned it and went performance crazy on it.

I have a set pulled from a car 327 with no holes. $10 plus the ride if you're interested.

Jose,
Sounds good. We'll let Skokie have first shot, and if he doesn't want them, they're yours. I know they are from a car, but not sure of the year.

Toms68cst I belive are the correct style. One hole on each side. One for pcv and the other for the breather to the carb without a oil hole. Anyone got a pair of those for sell?
