bags, coils or spindles? please help!
I have decisions to make and I am hearing alot of differnt opinions and being told one thing will work and another wont...
so I am going stait to the horses mouth.... what I have is a 71 chevy 3/4 ton long bed. I am shorting the frame to make it a short bed truck, also swappin the coil set up and trailing arms from a 67 on to it and also putting in my big block, and swapping in a 3.73 ford nine I have. I had planned toget the 4/6 kit from early classic's the kit includes.. "'65-'72 C-10 4/6 Drop Kit • 2½" Drop Spindles • 1½" Drop Front Springs • 6" Drop Rear Springs • 4 KYB Shocks • Super Track Bar Kit • Shock Mount Relocator Kit (Drop Spindles require Disc Brakes) $799.00" I have since been told that I cant run 15-17 inch rims with the drop spindles, I had planned to use crager ss wheels so that messes that up, I also was informed that I dont "have to" run the adjustable trac bar or shock reloaction kit. I also got off the phone with Sean at ricks and was told I might want to just go with the 3/5 springs and new shocks...cost 200.00 for springs and 130-170.00 for the shocks and u-bolts. this how ever leaves me spending money to change over to 5 lug still, or run 8 lug rims. I do have a friend withnew dodge 3/4 ton rims for 100.00 but I dont know if they are the polished style like the 1/2 tons have? I also could buy a 1/2 ton rolling chassis for 500.00-600.00...this makes me not have to shorten the frame, saves me labor from swapping the coil setup too and I dont have to swap the spindles and it has a good 12 bolt as well. this way I would have.. chassis...500-600 shocks and springs..350-400.00 so what do you guys think? help me out here... also wont my disk hard ware swap on to the 1/2 ton drum spindles? thanks a bunch guys! |

How are you going to use the truck when it is finished? Is it going to be a slammed hot rod (Saturday night cruiser) or a daily driver work truck?
