Does anyone here have a factory bucket seat with a picture of this metal trim strip installed on their truck? Was this a 68 deal or did the 67's come with this too? My 67 GMC with factory buckets had the strap only and no metal bracket on the rear cab. I would appreciate any comments or pictures of this trim piece installed.

I have seen the trim strip you refer to in 67's and 68's. I think it's purpose is to protect the gas tank sending unit and outgoing fuel supply tubing from being squashed when using the center seat. Just my 2cents worth.

We have 3 1967's with original factory buckets in them and none of them came with anything other than the strap to hold the center seat back in upright position.

Here is the brace installed. FYI, this is a 67 small window cab (with 67 VIN and bucket seat option on glovebox RPO's)

That's very interesting CPNE. I have what appears to be two holes drilled up from the underside of the double wall but mine with the factory carpet had a fiber cardboard type strip bound in it's lining. I had thought it was screwed to that same position and then draped down and glued over the tank. But maybe someone removed that bracket in the past as I was not the one who removed the carpet from my truck.

The other question then, is this piece when it is mounted as CPNE has pictured behind the carpet so it doesn't show anyway? My picture I grabbed off eBay and it would appear that the bracket was painted fawn with the strap in place for some reason? Take a close look.

In my 1970 print Chevrolet parts book I think I found it listed but there was no diagram of the 67-68 bucket. It was called upper center seat support brace and they listed as a 67-68. I would have agreed with Paul on my GMC but now I wonder about those holes underneath too.

Looks like a piece of sheetmetal could be formed in a brake easily to duplicate this and if it is under the carpet who would ever see it.

I'm hoping Solver will pop in her with a picture of his green 67 CST for comparison also.

Mark , sorry I didn't get back to you sooner -been gone to the clay county fair all week. Setting in a booth gets old when you have no internet. Here are some pics I just went out and shot tonight. Hope they answer your question. It was pitch black out there so hope you can tell what your looking at. I don't know if it ever had cardboard in front of bracket or not but I am sure the truck is original. Admin can delete any deemed unnessary for space.

Solver, you bailed me out again. That's exactly everything I needed to see. A piece of that same cardboard edging just like mine is still attached by the strap in your picture. Apparently mine did have this bracket and it got lost somewhere in the purchase transaction. If I don't find this bracket I may ask for dimensions of yours or maybe I could rent it to pattern for one. Glad I could help also Mark. When the time comes and you need it let me know as there is a welding shop close by and he has done alot of bending for my seat brackets. It couldn't be very expensive to have him bend one just like it and would be cheaper to send ya the final product than to have to return sample. Let me Know if I can Help.

Well I scored today. Just went to look at some old truck 5 miles from my place and it was a 67 cst when I drove up. The guy wanted to sell the whole truck and some other parts but I just didn't see anything else I really needed to go through the work of getting it out of there. Well the bucket seat was gone but right on the cab was that black bucket seat bracket still screwed to the cab just like CPNE has pictured. Offered him a ten dollar bill and he went and got the screw driver for me.
Can't beat that.
