Because of FEDEX I cannot order from GMC Paul anymore

I tried to order weather striping for my 1970 Chevy Custom Camper 20 from GMC Paul's. They have been a great place to do business with. I made my order online, and left a note in the comment section. I said to "cancel my order if you have to send it FEDEX because they cannot find my home" I am sure that FEDEX is a good company, but not for me. My home is hard to find and only about 25% of FEDEX orders make it to my home without excessive delay, and aggravation. So anyway this is what I received from GMC Pauls:
Hi Richard,
We ship by fedex ground and haven't had time to ship
it by usps. We have cancelled the order and given you
a full refund back to your card.
Our Best Regards,
GMCPauls

Paul is a very stand up guy and has nothing but the best people in the business working for him. Sorry about the shipping mess up, it sucks when they can't find your home.

I know GMCPaul is one of the most popular guys on here, but someone help me understand, (seriously, not being sarcastic) why would a business cancel an order rather than ship something by UPS? If a business were to have a contract to get a better rate from a shipper but strictly use thm only, i could see it, maybe that['s the case?............Jerry

Paul had said he didn't have time to ship it USPS not UPS. It takes a lot of time to deliver a package from their place to the post office whereas FED EX will pick up at their door. It's all the matter of a time factor and when you're as busy as them, time is a very valuable thing, not to be sarcastic

USPS will pick up packages, weigh them & then send you a postcard or call you w/postage, then ship when you pay for the ride, this part can be done by phone w/debit/credit card. They are at your place every day anyway and tax dollars pay for it. Brian

90% correct, except the USPS became a self supporting agancy in 1972. No tax dollers spent

I would have FEDEX orders sent to my work address, but I have complained so many times over the years. that I feel they are messing with me. Now when I call I feel I get the run around. I am only one person, all I can do is not use their service. I was hoping to purchase from GMC Paul because they have quality goods. Does anyone know of a company that is more flexible with their shipping that has quality parts?

ON THE HOMEPAGE IT LISTS ALL OF THE BOARD MEMBER VENDORS PAGES,
MOST OF THEM HAVE E-MAIL, I WOULD JUST SEND THEM A E-MAIL & ASK.

Jimmy72custom, You say only about 25% of shipments make it to your house? If FedEx has been to your house They usally can find it again and again. The drivers have daily routes and unless that driver is on vacation you will get the same driver over and over. Also, you can give them your phone number and they call you if they cant find your house.
Remember, they do have a schedule to keep and spending too much time for one delivery isnt good business for them. They have pick-ups to make and deliveries that must be made by 10:00am. Maybe if you can mark your driveway better or make it easier to find your house by a sign or something.
And if FedEx cant find your house how does UPS or USPS find it?

I hate FedEx. I live alone. They won't leave things with my neighbors, even if I leave a note telling them to do so. They only try to deliver once, then they take the item back to Auburn (an hour away) and say come get it. If people won't ship by UPS or USPS, I don't deal with them.

I work on a controlled access government base, so shipping to my work site is out of the question.

I have had several items delivered by FedEx and am very satisfied with their service. Anytime I am not home they leave a note for a signature authorizing them to leave the item here or with a neighbor(insurance purposes) they will try to deliver 2 times before asking me to pick up at the terminal. UPS on the other hand has left several high dollar items laying in plain sight on my front porch for all to see.

Gene,

Ditto. That's exactly what I've experienced. I wonder if their policies vary from state to state?

We use to use UPS, they damage way too many packages, and deny way too many insurance claims. We cancelled our UPS daily shipper account and haven't looked back. UPS rates are usually higher than everyone else, a lot of companies are switching to Fedex or DHL due to UPS rate increases & rough handling. We do have a few warehouses we ship from that still use UPS, but we ship Fedex exclusively, from Rockville, as we receive much better service from Fedex. The parts ordered had to ship from Rockville. With shows and other prorities we don't have the time to make the 25 mile round trip to the USPS office, so a full refund was given. Customer entered this statement in the comments section of the online order
"DO NOT SHIP FEDEX!!! They LOSE 75% of my shipments. If you have to ship FEDEX CANCEL MY ORDER. Thanks Rich"

We did what the customer requested.

My understanding is that FEDEX has some contract drivers in my area. The drivers are not always the same. They also do not drive marked vehicles. UPS has route drivers as you mentioned. The last Item I received from FEDEX was dropped off by someone in an older unmarked ford (excuse my language) Van. The young man in a t and jeans said that he was about to give up trying to find my home when he found it. The directions were on the package and he had two phone numbers. I don't know.

Rich,

As I offered in the one email. If there are parts you need, that we can ship to you from one of the warehouses by ups or dhl ground, we would be more than happy to do so. If you want email me and I will do my best to help.

Les

Les thanks. I know that you said if the item I needed was at one of your other warehouses it could be shipped UPS. At this time all I need is the weather-strip and the gas pedal. If one of your other warehouses have those items I would love to purchase them. I will drop you an email with the parts needed and the truck info. thanks Rich

I had two packages come from ORD shipped at the same time but ended up on different trucks, this was near christmas. One package was delivered when it was suppose to be. Two days later i received a card from UPS stating that the driver could not find my house, I was irrate. When I called their service line to complain all the girl could do was laugh, and said the driver probabaly did not even try to find my house. The package was at my door the next morning.

Jimmy72custom, I see that I am not all that far from you about an hour or so. If you really need it and cant get it shipped any other way, You could ship it to my place and I could deliver it half way to you maybe. Always willing to help if I can.
P.S. I know FedEx will get it to me, My Brother delivers for them
