01 should I buy?

I know this isn't the right board, but i'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking at an 01 z71 right now. The thing i'm worried about is that it has 96000 miles. I was just wondering what others who maybe own or know things about these trucks a little better than myself. Everything looks good on it. I took it to my mechanic and he didn't see anything wrong with it. thanks,
david

I bought my 96 with a 100,000 on it. Far as the motor and drive train, the miles are not a big deal if it was cared for. If you trust the mechanic, then you probably will have a good truck. Things to watch for. Intake manifold gaskets start leaking coolant into the oil. Some years have trubles with the injectoir nozzles when they get over 100,000 (mine hasn't yet). I hear alot of you folks up north have problems with the heater cores. Once the original goes, it seems like a never ending battle to keep the replacements from leaking. Mine hasn't yet, but then I only run the heat/defroster one or two days a year. AC baby!!!!. Check the idler arm close. Mine went bad, and again rumor has it that they tend to wear out faster than what you would normally think for that part.

If you feel the price is good for your area and trust the mechanic that checked it, then you should have a good vehicle. 150,000 - 200,000 are not uncommon mileage on these trucks.
