How did you do this???

For those of you who have put the newer chevy truck seats in your truck (the ones with the seatbelt integrated into the seat) how did you mount them? just drill holes in the floor and run a bolt through or what? That and it seems the front brackets are about 1/2 to 1 inch above the floor cause its right after the ridge. what did you guys do there? Any and all advice is appreciated.

I drilled holes in my floor, ran the bolts (grade 8) through, and made metal plates about 4" square to use as washers. I had to "massage" my plates to get them to fit the contour of the floor pan so they would fit nice. The front of my seat bracket does hang over a bit, but the rear hole was on it enough to bolt it up.

I ran a second row seat from a suburban in my 67 truck, and yes, some of the holes are past that ridge. I too used grade 8 bolts, and a plate underneath the floor. A few of the holes lined up with the existing ones from teh seats ,but some I had to drill new. I used stacks of washers to make spacers of assorted thicknesses where needed.

It really didn't take that long (a couple hours) working by myself, and it made a HUGE difference in how well I liked to drive my truck. YOu may find that the stock steering wheel is a little close to your thighs, if your seat is a little taller like mine is. I switched the stocker with one frm an Astro van (pre airbag days) to gain that space back. That change too was well worth the effort.

I mounted mine and the front holes are behind the lip ya'll are talking about. I had to mount the center seat/console a little further forward so the seat could be uilized. Otherwise it would be stuck in the down position.

The middle seat that I got doesn't fold down. Its just stuck in the up position. 71SWB you wouldn't happen to have any pictures for where your seat mounts to the cab do you? thanks

Here are my pics. The middle inside mount is actually right at the part that goes down. The outside one is a little over.
I mounted my tracks so I could move the seat all the way back (no fuel tank) and a bunch forward so when I have stuff stored behind the seat I can get to it easily.

Where to get late model seats cheap?

First off I am new here today so let me say hello to everyone. Love the sight and have been browsing it for several weeks now. I have wanted a 71 or 72 Chevy Shortbed since I was 15. At almost 40 I just got a 71 longbed. I may eventually chop the frame, but I am kinda diggin the LB. Anyway, for those of you on this thread that put late model Chevy seats in, what kinda prices are you paying for them and are there good places to look for affordable ones.

this may get me banned but I will do it anyway. the seat from a late 80's-realy 90's ford work real nice. very good comfort & they have the large folddown center armrest. I grafted the '68 mounts & slides on the F150 frame. I also have an '88 Grand Am with buckets from a '89 T-bird doing the same thing. back then the other guys (ford) had some nice seats.

I picked up a set from the swap meet saturday. I was suprised at how well they fit into the truck. The set I bought has the fold down 3rd seat in the middle. I have been looking for these for a while. They are not easy to come by. Which means I had to pay more than I wanted to get the right color when I found a set. I paid $300.00 for a set that had no flaws. One side note, I don't like how the seats look from the rear window. It was a lot cleaner looking with the bench seat. When I tint the windows, you will not be able to tell so I'm it will be ok.

I'm considering the late model bench seat w/ cente fold down console for my '67. Good tips here for mounting these.

What about using the seat frame/tracks from my '67 bench seat on the late model seats? Has anyone considered doing or already done that?

No banning......The junkyards are overflowing with Fords. The new leather Ford truck seats aren't all that bad.

My SEAT WERE FREEEEE!!!!!!!!!! A buddy of mine owns a junkyard and they had just got a 2002 chevy truck that had been rearended which threw it into another vehicle which he hit dead on which caused it to roll. The truck was totalled but the seat was in great shape. Just have to give it a vacuum to make sure I get all the little broken glass pieces out of there.
