Question on changing alternator pulley.
I recently bought a chrome alternator and have to change the pulley for a serpentine belt. Problem is I can't remember if the nut holding the pulley on is standard or reserve thread. Tried both but damn thing won't budge.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

your probably going to need and impact gun to get it off and i believe they are standard thread

some alt you need a special pulley puller
go to a good napa or carquest autoparts they'll usually remove the pulley for free

i'd go with an impact... and they are standard

Go to an Autozone in your area, they should have an impact wrench to do this for you, it free....I know thats were i work....

Put an old belt around the pulley and clamp it up tight in a vice to hold the pulley still and get a socket with a big breaker bar on it and give it a tap with a hammer.
