Why is Searching Disabled?????
This is unbelievable! and there doesn't appear to be any mention of it on this board!
Searching is essential for the vast information contained at this website. w/o searching, might as well close this board down. This is very sad. Tom |

This has been posted many times in the past month or 2.
Search is down because it caused the board to lock up, then no one could use it. Removing the search feature helped the serves to keep up with the demands of the board. Josh is working on fixing it but he is a college student, and has a job (besides the board) so we will just have to be patient. I have no doubt that eventually this board will be running at 100% again

Thanks very much!
This infor should be put somewhere, maybe FAQs or Forum Rules. I'm kind of surprised because infoPOP search goes to a crawl when there are large numbers of postings. www.ls1.com, however, used vBulletin, and the searches were instantaneous. I did notice that ls1.com is using vBulletin V3.0.3 and here we are at 3.0.1 I wonder if the later version has the search problem fixed? Thanks Tom |

I've emailed with no response an offer to help out fixing this problem.
This forum ain't THAT big and I host forums at least as large if not larger with no problem with searching. I might even host the forum gratis if it'll get searching to work! I know it's annoying to see the same questions posted once every few weeks by newbs (like me) when all they would need to do is a quick search to answer their question 10 different ways. And I don't mention it here but I own a webhosting company and host over 15,000 web sites with 80 servers so I'm not just talking out of my butt |

Dixiesys,
I figured I'd IM you since this thread could be burried quickly. I was talking with a small property rights group I'm involved with and I was thinking a nice Forum would be a great way to start their site. From what I have discovered, InfoPOP is extremely expensive, vBulletin is affordable, and have I got this correct, but is phpBB free as in keeping with open source linux etc????? Yeah, someone definitely needs to get this search rolling! Your offer is most generous! Tom |
