Troubleshoot - Starting
My '76 (350) is having trouble starting. It cranks forever and I have to pump the pedal like crazy to get it going. After it starts, I have to keep the revs up pretty high to keep it from stalling.
Sounds like choke problems doesn'nt it? Except when the engine is cold and I check the choke it seems to be closing properly. Any ideas?

sounds like a fuel prob. When is the last time you changed the filter? Have you done any work to it recently? if so what?

old carb maybe? Don't know what condition your carb is in, but mine is booboo and it won't run when cold for crap. OR it could just be the age of the motor; old motors tend to not like the cold, probably stemming from the whole carb thing. Just some thoughts, hope they help
