ok when i go to the yard to get my parts to upgrade my 64 c/10. will it be easier to take the crossmember or in pieces . will the crossmember from an 85 chevy bolt right up ?

Easier to take the whole crossmember. Even if you decide to swap the newer stuff onto your old crossmember, it's still easier to haul it all home in one big piece.

All but 2 of the bolts will go straight it. The last two holes need to be enlongated slightly. It's a swap meant to be.

Will you be pulling the crossmember by yourself or w/a buddy?

If you work alone, that entire c-member is pretty freakin' heavy so just get the required pieces for the swap. If you have extra help @ home to get it unloaded, then sometimes they'll give you a price break for buying the entire assembly so go that route.

Yep, I have a crossmember (wheel to wheel) from a '72. Needed a cherry picker to move it complete.

Now that it is down to spindle to spindle, moving it is easy

If they're willing to break the price for buying a complete unit,and they'll load it for ya,I'd do it.It's easier to unload.A tree and comealong,cherry picker,or even disassemble in the back of the truck.
