Steering column cup replacement

I have a 72 with a 3-on-the-tree. The problem I have (well, this one anyway) is the hole which holds the shifter arm in place is extremely worn, so the pin (larger, wrong one) is loose as is the shifter arm. I was thinking of replacing the section of column (I'll refer to as the cup) on which the shifter arm attaches.

Can anyone give me an idea of what is involved with dis-assembly of the column to replace the cup section?

Any info or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

It really isn't too tough. The assembly manual says you need some special tools but I haven't had any problems without them.
I can email you the pages of the assembly manual tonight if you would like them. You should get yourself one when you can. They are very nice to have around.

If the cup is the same on an automatic I have one in very nice shape.
I will go get those pages for you now.

I scanned 2 pages. It won't let me post them. I can email them to you. Email me at shawnstorhaug@hotmail.com and I will reply with the 2 pages.

The automatic and the standard are different. I tried using a lever from an automatic in my truck, it will work, but it is thinner than the standard shift. Knowing this, I would think the cups are different also. I friend of mine ordered me a new cup for my three on the tree, so new ones must be available.
