what to do about my long "lack of" bed

I have been looking and well there realy isn't any after market sheetmetal for the sides. Wreaking yards are a no go around my area (rusted through if you do get lucky enough to see one). I have been contemplating shorting the frame or buying a short wheel base frame just to solve this problem of long bed shortages. If I was to repair mine it would take 3 patch pannles and I am not no body man ( yet ). Dose any one know of a place that offers long bed replacement panles?

No idea. I'd guess the bed is about 400lbs. Check with Forward Air, from Sacramento.

Wish I could pick up a complete bed. I bought the truck from a guy that had a 72 bed/trailer(200$) and told him I would pick it up after I fined out if I was going to move but he sold it to some one he knew 4 weeks later. I have to take a trip to Texas (DFW area ) after tax season. I might have some luck there if no one local has any thing. Shiping would shred my wallet I think.

Come on down. You'll have no trouble finding a near perfect bed around these parts. There's no demand for long beds around here.

If you do come to Texas, I have a 72 longbed originally from Arizona (read: no rust) that I NEED to get rid of. I've been trying to sell it for a year now. Located two hours east of DFW in Kilgore, Texas. $350

I wasn't trying to rub anything in to anyone. I feel sorry for the rusty area guys. He did say he was coming to DFW Teax area though, and I'm right fat in the middle of DFW area. I figured I'd cheer him up that he would have good prospects locating one in this area.

I know of scads of longbed trucks around here that are ripe for parting. But frankly, I know of lots of shortbed trucks too, so I spend my money on them instead.
