Posi: First test of how well it works

MAN OH MAN! Used to, if I went from dead idle-WOT, it would just put the rearpassenger tire up in smoke, and not really move forward. But with the posi in there now, when I go from dead idle-WOT, it immediately kicks to about a 45deg angle, and goes forward like that, until about 4000rpm (in first) where it hooks up and GOES. Forward movement is good! (Even if it IS at a 45deg angle!)
I was really expecting to put BOTH tires up in smoke, but I guess it's not meant to work that way (instead of the tires just spinning FAST in one place, thus creating the smoke; they move fast and propel my truck with that momentum)
Makes sense I guess...sure FEELS faster!

Yup, got confirmation that my factory gears are 3.42's, so, they're good to go.

Yeah, I knew that. I was responding to 71-longbed's concern about you not breaking your gears in....

Tim bought an Eaton which replaces the carrier. That means the ring & pinion gear positioning has changed, if only by very little (depends on how it's installed). I would treat it like i would treat a new ring&pinion being broken in, just to prevent unnecessary wear.

now replace em with the 4.10s that you already thought you had, and you'll be good to go.
