How to value older trucks?

How do we place values on our old beloved trucks? Typical guides such as Nada and KBB are useless for anything older than 84. The truck in question is a 75 short wide, soon to have a nice mild street 350 and basically clean straight lines. How do you place a value on something like this?

I think the teepee emblems you're speaking of are custom camper badges, or something similar. I do know some trucks had that type of emblem on them.

On pricing, NADA is extremely useless, they give a "low", "average", and "high" price, as I'm sure you've already seen. The best way to determine value is to find a reputable appraiser.

Best of luck, and shine on (in reference to your username).

very true, it all depends on the person bying the truck, some one may want to spend a lot and others whant you to give it to them, but no matter what, don't give in, with out a fight

usually price is based on geography, shape of the truck, 2 or 4x4, factory or custom work done to it...
for example, a friend of mine tested the sales markets in a few places that he has lived (helped being military)... he has a 75 Dodge 4x4 clean no rust fresh paint with 32s and a good tough 360. In central CA people offered him up to $8K for it. In western South Dakota he got an offer of close to $10K. Here in northwest FL/lower AL the highest offer he got was $4K.
Looking at the sales markets, here in NW FL, any old truck no matter if it is clean, rusty, 2 or 4x4, custom, dropped, raised, missing a truck bed, anything in our range of years for the truck usually starts at $2K and usually max $5K. I saw a complete custom 74 Ford dropped show truck (looked great even for my tastes) that had well over $20K put into it and the best offer he got for it was $4500. The lemon lot just down the street had a 78 chevy 2x4 that had rust holes all the way through the bed so big you could stick your head through it and was so rough that its only salvation would be to pull the motor and crush it, and it had a price tag of $2500. the same truck in SD would sell for $100.
so it all depends on the market, people and whos willing to pay what...
sorryfor the long story just a bit bored this morn.

In the past 30 years about 90% of Fords are still on the road, the other 10% made it home.

I agree with Screwball, it's dependant on market demand, condition, and what extras on the truck. Short wheel bases are harder to find, but it seems that Texas and Oklahoma seems to have an abundant supply. A 75 SWB in good to above average condition with a new engine could get up to $3K here in Oregon, but will average $2500. Of course, I have seen ones restored and with nice wheels/tires have an asking price of $5500 too.

some prick friday said "how much for your truck?" I told him it wasn't for sale. He said everything has a price. No. Some things DON'T have a price. For me, sentimental value for my truck is beyond Bill Gate's monetary worth.

NADA has a classic section for 1984-1946

1946-1979 prices

As others have stated though there are more factors, like location and current market demand even the month of the year these trucks seem to bring more money.

also depending on the buyer, the story behind the truck adds resale value. being the original owner can make it worth a lot more.
