That should increase performance. it would be even better if you add headers too.

Actually stock hurts performance. 2 inch and glasspacks will be lots better than stock. What kind of motor is it? your sig says 67 truck so I'm guessing its a 327 at the most. I'd go with 2 1/4 with glasspacks. Headers would be a great add on too. Lots of flow. Most of the stock exhaust is like trying to breath through a coffee stir stick. Robs power and mileage.

I guess you could argue that if you went really big on your exhaust it could lower the torque with a stock engine... A could set of duals is all you really need on that 305.

Good point, Dean.

For the 305, I'd probably stay with 2" pipes to keep the flow up. Larger could detract from your low-end.

Glasspack noise output is a combination of diameter and length, so with a 2" diameter, you'll probably stay out of trouble with the sound police with anything 24" or longer.

If you have ambitions of a larger motor, especially bigger than 350, might want to go with the 2.25" pipes.

Yeah with a 305 they are right about keeping the smaller pipe for torque, you could also invest in an h-pipe or x-pipe if you wanted that also helps torque by balancing out the tubes. Depends on what you want for sound, like they said bigger pipe rumbles more. Dean has a point about that you could argue that big exhaust will lower torque but stock is pathetic period.... its designed to be cheap, not powerful.

Where do you run the pipes with that crossmember? Thru the holes near the frame rails?
