3rd Seat 89 'burb

I have an '89 Suburban with the third seat. I bought an owner's manual and it details a mechanism for locking the third seat in an upright position. Basically, you fold it, unlock the rear latches, pivot it upright on the front latches and use this bar to lock it there.

Does this really exist or is it one of those things that they put in the owner's manual and didn't make it to production. (I think the manual I got was an aftermarket printing)

Thanks!

Have you tried yours yet?

It should be a flip and fold like the K5's

Sure, folding the seat back down is easy, but taking it out is a pain when you need that extra floor space. There is supposed to be an option that allows you to fold the seat back down, then release the rear latches and rotate the seat to a vertical position and lock it there so you can use the floor space that is normally under the seat.
I probably didn't explain it all that well in the first post! LOL

it is removable in the suburbans. Fold it down, then lift the handle and pull it out. You can also just push it up against the second seat to use the floor space. The seat folds down in a K5, then pivots straight up, but doesn't come out. They probably use the same owners manual, though.

Well I appologize....I was wrong.....I just bought a 1990 burb but I havent tried this on it yet, I just assumed it was the same as my 88 K5 but it isnt. All I can do is fold the top down and remove it....no flip function like on my K5
