Talking What to do????

Just got a call from the guy I bought my 70 Chevy cab from, he's selling a 72 C-30 w/ two step side beds, no motor. It has a 427 in it now w/ SM465 and is a dually. He's pulling the motor and radiator. The cab is solid w/ under dash AC. My wife is going to kill me, he told me if I can get him half the money he'll let me take the truck he needs the room. Did I mention my wife is going to kill me. Getting the 2nd truck was going to allow me to take the GMC off the road and restore her. Did I mention the cab is solid, I mean solid! My wife is going to kill me. Maybe I can stash the truck at one of my brothers' house. Maybe I can convert it to 4wd like Yukon Jacks buddy, oh the possibilities. She is going to kill me!

P.S. did they make an 8.5' and 9' stepside beds? I have an 8' bed for my GMC. He said one of the bed's he has is 8.5' and one is 9'. I believe the C30 is a 133" wheelbase truck. I'm a dead man.

Start with flowers, dinner, and lots of attention (for the wife).

May not save you, but it probably won't do any harm...

Wink

Get 'em Jim! She won't kill you. It might, however, take a little time to heal up from the beating, LOL!

Here's what I do.

Tell her it's for her! So you guys can share your hobby together.

Combine that with the flowers, dinner out and a personal massage, BEFORE you tell her it's coming home to live...

(I survived the beating I took)

She'll kill you...this is a given...onto the step side bed question.
There were three lengths on the step side bed.
6 1/2 foot for the SWB. (1/2 ton only)
8 foot for the lwb (1/2 ton and 3/4 ton)
9 foot for the 133 WB one ton.

Just for sh!ts and giggles, the fleets were similar, 6 1/2 foot for SWB 1/2 ton.
8 foot for 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton LWB
and 8 1/2 foot for 3/4 ton and one ton longhorn trucks.

I actually had planned on buying the cab off of him for my 70 GMC. When I went and bought my 71, I ended up buying two rooms of furniture to smooth that one out. My son (6 at the time) was the one that ratted me out, then. My wife had made a statement before we got married that she did not like flowers, so I have honored that for 8+ years, she'll know something big is up. I will more than likely get it and look into converting it to 4wd w/ parts from the 70. Unfortunately there's no title w/ the C30, guess it'll be a K35!

On a side note: Prior to 1977 where there 1 ton duallys (73-76) and if so did they use a dually dana44 for the front axle? I can't see using a spacer w/ a D44 to fit a dually rim up front. YJ, what did your Buddy use up front?

Jim, there were dually C/30's from 73-76, but no K/30's (except for Napco). As far as I know there are no dually dana 44's, but anything is possible.

Sounds like a sweet truck, how much is he asking?
