I am about to buy body parts for my 70 GMC project, and would like to know what other board members think about the repro parts they have used. Are most good fitting and a decent weight? For example, I have heard good things about tri-mark rockers, that they are equal or better than GM parts. What about fenders, whole door shells, hoods, etc?? Anything I should avoid buying in repro? I like good used metal but here in Saskatchewan everything is rusted out, and I can't head to the U.S. until I get holidays again.

I've used Goodmark with good results, and you might try GMC Pauls...

I bought a front bed panel from Mar-K "quality" parts. Fit was terrible with 1/8" gaps under bedrail, where there were no gaps with original panel. Mar-K might be good for some parts, but their front bed panels SUCK, and so does their customer service.

I got all triplus parts took me 3 doors and 3 fenders to get 2 of each that fit.

Does anyone know if the Goodmark tailgates are decent? Are they even close to original fit/feel/strength?

One of the guys that does this for a living could probably tell your better, but I believe Goodmark was one of the original companies to make OEM grade stuff for insurance jobs when the trucks were newer. I asked this question about a week or two ago and Tri-plus seemed to get the nod for most consistent fit and heavier gauge metal construction. According to the reply by Hambone above though, he had problems with fit. I am planning on buying Tri-plus or Goodmark. In the EBFABMAN dvd set on cab patching and replacement panels he states that regularly a person has to buy two of the same side rockers and splice them to get a good fit front to back along the short width of the rocker. What he doesn't state is what brand of sheetmetal he typically purchases. I would pm him and ask unless he reads this thread and joins in.

I used a Tri-plus gate & was impressed with weight/fit/finish, was not bad for China made. Rubs the bed in one 6" spot at the bottom tho, no amount of adjustment will move it enough not to rub the paint off. Might be the bed but the original gate didn't rub. Still has a heavy sound to it when shutting, not 'tinny' sounding like some atermaket gates I've seen. Brian
