I bought a gass filter a the local Chevy dealer and found Made in Taiwan on the package. Whats up with that. Even GM is starting to sell that junk.

You'll never be able to get away from it. I bought some Craftsman precision screwdrivers the other day and they too were made in another country. It's sad. Most of those countries probably don't even import stuff from our country!

They've been doing it for years. I just read in a paper recnetly that they were building a new transmission plant somewhere overseas.

I went to the ATM one day and someone had stuck a sticker of an America Flag next to the keyboard, I noticed that he had drawn an arrow on the sticker pointing down to a tiny print in the bottom corner that read "Made in Taiwan"

I remember back in 1984 I was working at a Chrysler dealership when they were running their patriotic "THE PRIDE IS BACK" "BORN IN AMERICA CAMPAIGN"
Their best selling vehicle was the new mini-van which was built in Canada, with the optional 2.6L Mitsubishi ( Japanese) engine?

The plant that I work at was a VW stamping facility. In '87 VW moved the equipment to Mexico. Over 700 out of work, the plant manager and a group of investors opened it back up. In '96 they sold to Mayflower out of England. We press and assemble the lift gate for the 'burbs and escalades which is shipped to Mexico where their built. So we lost the plant to Mexico and now ship to Mexico.

Alot of things are Heco En Mexico Nowadays Anyone Look at some late model 993 cast heads?

To top that I just tore down a Motor earlier that had been "Built" and someone had put a new Gm True Roller Timing Chain Well i scratched my head on that one Cause i assume its higher than say a cloyes. But i was eyeing it over And on the links it said Made in taiwan . Stupid Junk.

And its not that they dont make a good product some things are machine operated and have to use a certain tolerance steel etc etc. Kinda one of them hard to mess up just load the machine push some buttons type of deal.... If Not fully automated.

But i have heard that in the past japan and all the other oversea outfits used recylced car bodys and Iron to make tools and anything that got a bad rep for breaking and being Cheap "Jap" Steel

Sorry to say this, but it's all because of the unions. Think about it.

If my company makes widgets in Cleveland Ohio, and is union, I have to pay medical insurance, dental insurance, higher wages, and a bunch of other benefits. The cost to the buyer will be pretty high, and that will also raise taxes since it's on a percentage basis of the total cost.

Another company makes the identical widget at a comparable quality, but it farms it's work out to China where they can pay people $5 a day to make these. They don't have to pay any benefits and will do pay raises when they want to. Much cheaper labor force, so even with shipping the parts back here, they can make the part cheaper to buy and will sell more than me and be on top. Or, they can sell it at the same cost as mine, since most people don't care that the stuff isn't made in the US, and still beat me in price because they will have less to pay for and make more money that way.

How can I compete with that? By firing all my employees and moving overseas. This is why you hear about layoffs and job losses, not anything the government is doing.
