Rear End Question
Hey guys!
I bought a new truck tonight for it's decent body and good exhaust, but I need to know how I can tell if the rear is Posi or not... Its a 14 bolt in a 74 3/4 ton truck, only reason why I suspect is it a Posi is how it reacted when the PO was backing it up through the dirt as we was turning, the one tire on my side was grabbing the dirt a bunch... The truck has a poor tranny in it, so I couldn't find out via the good ol' patch test :P

so you bought the 4X4 454 3/4 ton after all?

oh yeah i forgot, posi, right, pop the cover and look, the best way to tell. plus couldn't hurt to change out the rear end grease

Nope, I found a local truck just down the road. Has a straight bed with only surface rust, and comes with two front fenders that are in extremely good shape, new front bumper, new front valence, a fairly new suspension, very heavy duty hitch, and is in fairly reasonable condition otherwise. I plan to combine the two trucks into one nice truck, and sell the other resulting truck. Paid 1500 for it, probally can get 1200 for the resultant truck, so I felt it was a decent deal

probally, and then u get a nice 14 bolt rear end, i would lose to see your small block try to tare taht up!

Well, I've got one of those already, not a chance you would wreck one in good shape, but my current 14 bolt's pinion is nearly done for...

Jack up one wheel put it in neut and try to turn the other wheel.

i can do that with my locker, and i know it works, from the rubber mark test
