factory or not?
worth anything or not? I bought this truck yesterday and I have never seen this before. It is like a half of a leaf spring added to a coil spring truck.

As far as I can tell it is PO. He also put the oldest changeable receiver hitch I have ever seen (and welded the hitch to the receiver ) and tool boxes in place of the stepside fenders.

I have the same as the first pic. They were a factory option that my 72 came with but the previous owner removed them. Luckily I received another pair from fellow board member passthebuck.

Those are a factory option (overload springs) and should be noted on the glovebox data sheet if they are original to that truck.

The ones on Krue's truck are just like the ones my dad installed on his 69 for a silde in camper. I think he bought his from JC Whitney way back when...

If someone is doing an original restoration and they are missing from their truck then yes and if your set is complete and in good condition. The other part is the shipping, If the puchaser is local then they would bring more dollars to you to save them on shipping dollars. If I were to put a price I would say $50 or less depending on the deal. I would think that they may be worth more on a trade for something that you needed.

If you plan on doing any trailer pulling or haul heavy stuff in your truck, they are good to have so your truck wont bottom out.

As far as I have ever seen/heard/read, this is the only type that was offered as an option on a coil spring truck.

Andy, the toolboxes on my truck were installed aftermarket, I had the receipt showing that the toolboxes where installed about a week after the truck was purchased. I also got the original fenders back in cherry condition.

I have seen the single leaf aux. springs on 67 -72 from the factory with the 66 and older being multi-leaf style.

My father's 72 had the single half leaf from the factory. When he lowered the truck he installed a tappered shim to move the leaf up. Nice part was smooth 4" lower ride but still had overload for hauling.
Just a thought.....
