Just curious on what everyone is running for their HEI plug wires? I've got Accell 8.8 and they are getting old. The truck doesn't have the fire it used to have and the plugs have been changed recently (less than a month ago). I was looking at the MSD ones and just curious to see if they're worth the $$$ like their distributors are.

I am running the MSD 8.5 on my pickup. They were the custom fit kind. They came terminated with the connector and boot on the dist end and nothing on the other. Then you trim to fit and put the wire together.

Working with them like this, they do seem to be a very good quality wire. I have only had them on the pickup for a few months. They work well with my HEI dist and my Accel super coil.

I also have a set of Accel 8.5's on my Cutlass though and I have never had an issue with them either. And that is running MSD Dist. with 6AL control and a Blaster 2 coil.

I guess that to compare the two, the MSD's feel like they will last longer under harsh conditions. They just feel like a better quality insulation. I guess that I would probably stick with MSD if I had the cash, Accel if I didn't. I did like the trim to fit with the MSD's though. I have never made spark plug wires before so it was interesting.

My custom fit set had the plug boot and you had to attach the dist end with terminal?
So you could attach to either HIE or Regular.

Ya know, I don't think it makes a difference. I've used the expensive kind and the really cheap kind. Currently I'm running Wal-Mart brand HEI wires on my 78 short bed. They were 12 dollars and look and feel exactly like factory 8mm wires. They've been on for three years and have not had one problem.

im running AC Delco or whatever Autozone sells, the cheap stuff basically. Works great. Big improvement over old wires.

AC Delco only. Never had a problem.

I just put a set of Moroso Blue Max plug wires along with a Pertronix Flamethrower HEI coil. I like them alot.

My checker store bought borg-warner [nascar] wires still fire the plugs better then my MSD wires did....
