Brake booster/master cylinder "throw" required

How much throw is required on the rod/shaft thingie to properly engage your run-of-the-mill GM booster and master cylinder?

That is... how far does the shaft that stabs into the booster move when depressing the brakes?

In my new cab, I'll be locating the booster and master cylinder under the passenger side of the dash (don't ask... I was dropped on my head as a baby ). I'm going to have to make a bellcrank mechanism to turn the brake pedal moving axis sideways and drive a rod side to side under the dash to press the booster/mc. What I'm wanting to work out at this point are the dimensions and angles for the linkage.

Here's a reallllly bad sketch of what I'm contemplating...

How are you going to fill it full of fluid and bleed it without squirting juice all over the cab. Brake fluid EATS paint like a mo-fo. I learned that after I had to repaint my booster and DS inner fender

The short answer is... verrrrrry carefully.

It's actually standard fare in the rod world to have this stuff inside the vehicle... you've just got to put down plenty of plastic sheeting, get creative with your filling process, and then pray to the carpet gods that you don't spill.

I am pretty sure Kugel Komponents has a kit for this. Sorry I do not know how to link this, but I am sure you can find them using Google...

Yes, they do... but after talking to Jerry Kugel quite some time about his product, it won't work for me.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I would think that as long as there is some "free play" at the pedal and the booster rod is completely releasing from the M/C you're ok.............or did I misunderstand the question?

Modding the brakes, μ-progress

I've been slowly assembling pieces and parts to get my brake setup into the new cab-- booster and MC are going under the dash, parallel with the dash, behind where the radio used to be. I drew the linkage changes I needed to make, then mocked it up in cardboard. I fabbed up a bracket that holds the horizontal 90° pivot point and welded it to the modded (for several reasons) column bracket under the dash. Next, I need to make the pivot bracket (the cardboard piece below... turns out cardboard won't be strong enough ). From there I'll need to finish the brake booster/mc mount bracket under the dash, and then plumb it. I'm still looking for the right push rod that goes into the booster... Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Obligatory pics of the pivot bracket mockup--
