On mine i only DRILLED a 1/2 hole for the cable If you take the adjustment nuts off the cable thats all you need
How i determined where i needed the hole was mounted my shifter where i wanted it and then Guestimated You can see how the cable mounts once the shifter is in your hands mine is held down with 1/4 bolts but i have use self tapping metal roof screws in the past. |

converting to floor shifter, auto
Im in the process of switching to buckets in the 85 and I would like to install a floor mounted auto shifter, maybe even a console. Im not quite sure how to go about doing this, like cutting the hole and where.

I have a B&M mega shift I'll sell you that I know will fit in your truck since it's currently in my 83. Was used to move the truck on and off the trailer and that's it. You could ask Cam how he installed it. Looks to be one 2-3" hole in the floor for the linkage.

its really easy JB. the shifters are cable operated so you just have to drill a small hole in the floor for the cable to pass through. then it comes with a couple brackets to attach the cable linkage to the shift lever on the side of the tranny. nothing to it
