copperhead project on spike

has anyone else been watching the Trucks show on spike tv? He is doing the 67 frame up build of a chev and he called it copperhead. they used a gm crate engine measured at 572 cubic inches. i looked up prices and they want twelve thousand bucks for that engine. I wanted to know anyone elses opinion on the copperhead project and if anyone else is using an engine close to that big. I thought iwas cool when i have a 454 but 572? that copperhead project is turning out really sweet

Yea I know what you are talking about. I gave up on that show a long time ago. Wanted to see the final episode. Wish I would of had the Tivo last season, you can set it to record only first run episodes then go back and watch whenever you want. Mine records up to 200 hours of programming or 40 hours of HD.

so you wanna know what I think of Copperhead?!
I feel it is a very nice looking ride & appears to be well engineered. he has done about all the stuff I want to do save for a cab stretch.
as far as the engine? gross overkill in the budgeting dept. (assuming they are paying for any of this stuff). Bill Mitchell has a BB for a lot less that has a bunch more torque & HP. & it has just as good a warranty!
bottom line, what do I want to see done with Project Copperhead?
titled in my name!!!!!!!

The whole point of Copperhead was to show the availablity of parts & resources to build a truck. He started with a bare frame, cab and title

While about every component was donated by sponsors (I'm guessing), it is a good series. Yes, the new episodes are way too far and few between, but that is one sweet rig

If you want to see some stills you can go to Early Classic Enterprises website and they have a direct link to Stacy David's website that has build pics on it. Just like in the show though, I don't think there is any finished pics yet. ECE was the source of a lot of the trick stuff he did, but not all of it. He has a build list that states where he got the various components. I still haven't found a site for the company that he says made his fuel tank.

I am with you guys though. Seems that lately he has done about 4 or 5 new shows a year and the rest is reruns.

It is a nice looking truck, but with a 572 it sure isnt a daily driver. The network's been bending Stacy over a barrel, this project's been shelved for 2 years, iirc. For the most part I like what Stacy does, especially when he drives something. If it will break, he will break it. Stacy seems to be a good ol boy, too bad CBS rules the roost. I hope the show gets moved to SpeedTV.

As for reruns, they are only making 12 shows a year for Trucks, Horsepower, My Classic Car, and others, I'm sure. That part blows.

Nice truck

But as everyone has stated previously, too many reruns. When the show started airing it got me motivated for my project. But after a few Saturdays of hanging out just to watch the Copperhead shows, I lost interest when he didn't do anything to it. My two cents. Kerry

Yea, it would be nice to see the Copperhead truck finished, but it gets old watching shows spend unlimited amounts on something the average person cant afford. I would like to see a show where they do all of the bodywork on a truck in average 35 yr shape, and then only have 4 or 5K to spend on the rest of the truck to fix it up. Not complaining about the Copperhead though, its one Fine Truck!

Don't get your hopes up about seeing the completion of the Copperhead project. The show schedule lists only 2 episodes which have already been shown, but will be re-run again this year.

Last weekend's "re-cap" episode was yet another tease toward getting to the end. I don't know about you but for me a good tease is OK, but at some point the teasing MUST END!

I gave up on it myself. When its done its done. The important one got finished anyway, MINE! LOL When there was reruns I worked on my truck. Thats why they have reruns fellas. The network is giving you time to do your own project(s). Isn't that kind of them.

Yes, they are all re-runs. However, if anyone remembers, the first time around TRUCKS! named the last episode "Copperhead Payoff!". Now it seems as if TRUCKS! has renamed it "Copperhead Build Up Continues". I guess there will be at least 1 more episode to finish off the project.
