I have a 71 Longhorn and was wondering if the p valve is the same as a 1/2 ton. My Horn is a 3/4 ton. Thanks in advance Tim.

Can't answer your question, but you might try checking the catalogs and seeing if they list different proportioning valves for the 1/2 and 3/4 tons.

While a drum/drum vehicle IS different than a disc drum...I can say that i have removed the distribution valve (later replaced with the proportioning valve in 71) from a '70 CST/20 Longhorn, and installed it in a 69 1/2 ton GMC.

I would go out and look at them and compair things like line size, where each line goes to and from what port, and any other difference you could find.

Tim, I have had some recent hands on with proportioning valves. I have found the exact same part on both the 1/2 ton and the 3/4 ton trucks. I have also found different proportion valves that I assume were aftermarket replacements. Mothertruckers recently quoted $79. new and $20. good used so you might contact them for a solution. PS, finally got to install one of the SWB bedsides----fit perfect and lots of nice colors as I take the paint off----(:>)
