What is an original 59 Chevy stepside worth?

My dad has an original 6 cyl. 3 speed 59 Chevy stepside that he is thinking of selling. Can anybody give me an estimate of what its worth? Its in pretty good shape. Has a couple rusty spots but nothing serious. The truck only has around 60 or 70 thousand original miles. Let me know what you think it might be worth.

I've got a pic attached below.

Check here for truck values.

http://207.44.196.117/vboard/showthread.php3?t=14754

Remember its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Not knowing about the interior, chassis/frame I would guess between $2500 and $3500.
Although with the right buyer it could fetch more.

Really thats the only major rust on the truck. It's in good shape. He bought it from an old lady that had it stored in a barn for years.

From what I can remember the interior is in pretty good shape too. The carb needs a good cleaning since my dad decided to start it with old gas in the tank. I think it just stopped the carb up. Do they have any type of fuel filter on them? I'm gonna get it running again in a few weeks.

It's a nice truck. If it was a 56-57 I'd buy it from him. I just don't care for the 59's.

That price is about what he was thinking of asking for it. Like you said if the right person comes along he might get more. Thanks.

Steve

Yea it should get atleast $2,500 out of it from the looks of it. When I first got my 58 all glasses except back were broken, trash all in bed, flat tires, engine that was half way bolted in, and it didnt even run good. Had alot more bad spots then that truck too. He wanted $800 for it...and even that was cheap compared to some trucks in my area.

The key is that if your not in a hurry to sell it, The right buyer will come along.
Just clean it up nice.
That looks like orginal paint too, if so, leave it that way. The buyer knows just what their getting. No hidden bondo bucket.

That is true. Sometimes you come out best buying a rough vehicle with no work done, rather then one that has been fixed up. Because with the rough one, you know exactly what your getting. What you see is what you get. With a fixed up one, no telling what is hidding under that paint.
