How do I remove cigarette lighter housing?

I'm getting my '72 c-10 ready for paint... but I can't get the cigarette lighter apart.... any ideas?

inner and outer shells. they screw together and pinch the dash. just unscrew them

They can be on there pretty good though, I have one in my parts truck I will never get off unless I use some big pliers. If all else fails, get a new one..they are only around $20 or so for a complete assembly...
