Front Coil Spring Keeps Falling Out - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I dropped the front end using 3" lowering coil springs and 4" lowering coil springs in the back. Now for some reason the front passenger coil spring keeps coming out of the seat. I end up having to jack it back up and reseat it. I don't see anything different between the front 2 sets but when I hit a bump the spring will move. Am I missing something, is there suppose to be a clamp, or something there to hold it in place. This may of been covered before in the forum but I did not see it. I appreciate any help that you all can give.

I never cared too much for front lowering springs. I wonder if the spring is just too short? The area (heigth) the spring resides in changes between the lower control arm and the upper spring pocket in the crossmember as the lower control arm travels up and down. I would think a shorter spring, especially one that is meant to lower the front 3", would have room to move around as the distance between the upper spring pocket and the lower control arm increases when the front end of the truck is going up, as in rebounding from a bump.

I never liked 3" front lowering springs either. I was having the same problem so I dumped them and went with 2" lowered springs. It did make a big difference.

Maybe you just need a big block in there to keep things weighed down, or stop jumping bridges and such! :p That sounds really peculiar, never heard of anything like that before. Is the upper seat in OK shape? Maybe the lip that keeps the top part in place has gotten damaged?
