moving spring perches and shock mounts
who has done this? what do I need to know, so eveything lines up.
btw..It's an 1 ton 14FF that's going under my 3/4 ton burb. thanks, jusitn

well if its a 14ff out of a 1 ton then it should bolt up. About 40" center to center. I'm not sure about the shock mounts, but a grinder & a welder will work. Can you say easy. Well i just saw that your sub is a 90. I thought it was a 68-72. So im not sure then. Measure the center to center of both, if there the same then bolt it in. If not have a buddy or reputable driveline shop do it. Im not in cali, but i know if you call off road unlimited www.offroadunlimited.com in burbank cali they will set you up.

3/4 ton is 42.5 center to center
1 ton is 40.5 center to center

thanks, I know where that shop is and there too pricey(sp?) anyways I going to be doing this myself. I just need to know any tips to line up the axle under my rig.

It's not that tuff of a job. Many many moons ago I put a set of Jeep axles under a 78 Datsun 2wd kingcab truck. Just take good measurements and have some reference points figured out. Jack the rear end up and take measurement were the pinion yoke is. Measure up from the floor. Find the center of the old axle and use a plumb bob to find the center in the frame with the center of the axle. Take out your old axle. Measure the center of your new axle and mark it. Cut off the spring perches from the new axle. Lay new axle with spring perches on the springs. Center up the axle using the plumb bob and the center marks that you previously made. Get the pinion yoke height correct and tack weld the spring perches to the axle. Go back and re-check your measurements, finish welding the spring perches.

my sub is 3/4 ton and the 14FF is out of an 1 ton truck so the spring perches are narrower on the 14ff. the shock mounts do hang low because It was out of an 2wd truck so I knew I had to move them anyways.
1ton is 40.5" center to center 3/4 ton is 42.5" center to center

Oh yeah! I forgot about those boat anchors. Kinda like my brothers '90s C20 with a V-6.

boat anchor LOL that's why I going to shave the bottom for better ground clearance or at lest I'll be able to slide of rocks much better with out that 1" lip cast on the bottom of the housing.

Too bad you didn't do it 5 years ago, I would have swapped axles with you. I had to have the 3/4 ton spring perches on my 14ff moved in to the 1 ton position.
