Strange looking hood

Found this pic surfing and was not sure what to think.

The more I look at it the more unsure I get

Hmmm... Is it real, or is it photoshopped? Maybe it looks good to someone, but not to me... Then again, I generally prefer Stock - go figure!

Yes it is real there were several other pic's from different angles it was a FOR SALE ad.

There were several other mods also but I did not see any mention in the ad about the hood.

Unsure if you can improve on the original design but someone tried

That looks kinda similar to the (improve your gas mileage) hoods that J.C. whitney used to sell back in the mid 70's, I know they had one real close to that for 73 up trucks.

I'm thinking maybe better forward visibility (due to the lower profile) and just possibly cold air intakes at the gun turrets... but it'd be nice to hear from someone who knows for sure!

oh. the pic posted above is for a 73-87 style and the 67-72 has 'gun turrets' cause it follows the body lines then slopes in and creates a round thing (best i can think of) how much more visibility can that make?

Yep I remember when they were aftermarket. They said the 3-4" drop on the hood gave you about 6' more trail to see. Makes a big difference when the trail ends or the trail turns.
