carpet install questions
I got all my carpet and weather stripping togeather for the burb
Anyway I layed in the carpet last night, and since there is no prepunched holes for the seat bolts, and the highbeam switch or the gas pedle. I was wondering how everyone cut these holes with out messing up the carpet. I have never had to deal with carpet before so any ideas would be great. I have two weeks to get the thing ready for Jenna to drive full time. We need the room for the new baby P.S. WES http://www.classicheartbeat.com/ I figured out the trim deal on the barn doors :p There was some kind of trim on the door that did not look anyware close to the stock style Thanks for your help.

Just make sure you got the carpet where you want it and then go under and use a awl (icepick) and punch up through hole . Then take a tube (piece of pipe, oid socket etc.) the size you need for bolt and sharpen end. Use this to cut out hole. Makes a nice round hole with no fraying.

Another way is to install the bolts before you put the carpet down. Then just feel for them and cut a slit or X on top of the bolt.

I just installed the carpet in our Garden Truck project and used jhow66 method mostly. I only used his method to locate the seat though. Once I located the seat, then I used speed bolts to bolt the seat down. The threads come to a point and are self aligning. Just ran them through the carpet and no holes were necessary. We cary them for $.75 each. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

You can also put in a later model gas pedal(no floor attachment) to keep from cutting that hole. Thats the most visible and largest besides the high beam switch and that should have a rubber gromet to make it look neat.
Oh and a gasket punch works good for the holes.

Are you going to put down any type of insulation under the carpet or just have it on the metal floor?

Where did you order your carpet ? I need one for my 'burb.
Also, did you install the OEM headliner ? Need to resolve this, too. Any pics ? Thanks Ev
