I just replaced my Tank Selector valve and now when i switch to the right tank, it reads way past full...and when i switch back to left...it reads normal...which is empty at the moment. what would cause this?

Bad ground would be my guess

check your connections on top of the sender of the tank. theres one you can see right through the bed/cab space that is what makes the one in my truck go nutty. I used a little foil on my truck and it worked out well

When you open circuit the gage sending wire, it will peg past full. I would bet on the ground on that right tank too.

With the current gas prices I haven't seen my guage past full in over a month... MY truck was doing hte same thing. I traced the wire that goes to the sendng unit and it was cut into by the edge of the firewall. It looked like it had been cut for years.

When its fixed, it should still go a little past full and empty, or at least mine does

Does anybody happen to know what color the ground lead is?

BOTH the tanks on my '82 K30 never leave the 3'oclock position and I havn't had a chance to crawl around in the mud underneath it yet.

The grounds are black and terminate on the frame rail close to the tank senders. They are held by a bolt with a star washer on it.

ground was good, my gauge works, just reads past full when filled up...like at the 3 oclock position, but reads empty when empty...i think...haven't gotten that far yet, but it read empty before i filled up and i put in about 19 gallons
