Ordered my headers today

Well, I decieded to go with these headers I found on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

The price was right..... I just need to make my mind up on the Flowmaster or the Borla mufflers now?

Hopefully I'll have made my mind up here in a week and a half, that's when I get it all done.

Anybody have any sound clips of the Borla mufflers?

Just because they clear the engine mounts on an 82, they still might not clear on a 71.

The link doesn't work for me, but if they're blockhuggers, they will probably hit the engine mount stands.

Those look just like the Summit brand headers that are actually re boxed headers by Dynomax. Summit sells them for $188 and change + the ride. I have a set...very nice!

You might have a clearance problem with your clutch linkage. Long tube headers sound great with 2.5" pipe and turbo muffs.

I'd say the Borlas too! Sound very throaty. I personally am running a set of Flo Pros and have no complaints until you get to be crusing at 70 mph, then they drone enough to get on your nerves. I'm told an x-pipe would fix that problem though

Borlas are so sexy, and it seems like no one knows about them. I hardly hear them on older trucks, but a good number of late model Chevys have them and I can point them out in a instant. When I get new muffs I'm gettin Borlas.

If they're the same ones as in the pic then they are the summit part No SUM-G9006-9 headers that Tx Firefighter recommended in a previous thread, and the price is about 200 bucks and free shipping.

Yes, they are going to go on my '71. I am also leaning more towards the Borla mufflers with the X-pipe.

I wish I looked around a bit more if they could be had for under $200.... I ended up paying $224 shipped to the door. Well next time I'm looking for something I'll post it first and find all the good deals.

Does anyone know for sure if I will have a problem with the clearance with my clutch linkage? I plan on a auto tranny but just now now!

Thanks for the complements everyone,
Steven

I snapped a few quick pics when I got home this evening, and it got dark quick. I'll try to get some better ones with the clutch linkage in it so you can see the clearance.

I doubt the rubber boots on the plug wires would withstand the temps of the headers, but there is a decent gap between the boot and the header. I had to change a few of the plug ends to the 90 degree bends; if I have to change a few more I will. We will see what happens.

Those are good looking headers!

I think I'll get a set of them when I get a new set later on (current steel ones are fine for now, but will rot away in a real hurry)

You ever thought about the mufflers done by Magnaflow. They are some sweet sounding mufflers if you set them up right. Just depends on the sound you are going for. On my 71 I am going with some Hooker Super Comps and 3 " 3 chamber Flowmasters. Cant beat the sound!! Mean!!!!!!
